Niching Up by Chris Dreyer is an amazing book about business advancement for people who have just set up new businesses or planning on starting one. I found the book helpful even though I own no business, but I believe the points explained in the book can be profitable for professionals as well.
By clearly stating the cons in the first chapter itself, the author notifies the readers that the concepts in the book might not work for all and every market. Not many authors would do that. It can be a big let-down for some readers. The later chapters discuss the advantages of niching and how to use this ability to gain trust, business, premium pricing and efficiency in business or profession. All chapters are logically structured, so as a reader reads through each chapter everything makes sense and the whole niching up concept becomes rational and attainable.
The chapters are clean, well-structured and professionally edited which provides an effortless reading experience. The little anecdotes from movies or books and short metaphors after every couple of pages were a delight. The author made sure it is highlighted so the readers won’t miss it. To give clarity on certain details, the author also provides relevant examples, some of which are from his own company. I also liked that at the end of every chapter, the author mentions two lines about what would be covered in the next chapter. It led me to keep reading.
The book is an absolute delight to read, starting from chapter 1 it got me thinking about how and if I could use it in my current line of work. Everything in the book made sense and achievable. If not for 2-3 profane words, the book was a 5 out of 5. I rate the book 4 out of 5 stars.
