Review of Niching Up
Niching Up by Chris Dreyer is a captivating book about the remarkable career transformation of a card player into a renowned figure in the digital industry. This compelling narrative explores how he mastered the art of SEO, skillfully generating organic traffic for personal injury attorneys. The SEO business is doing well currently. In this book, he explains what it took him to get to where he is now. He uses the analogy of video games to explain the concept of progressing through levels. To advance to the next level, you must first master the previous level.
The author describes his entry into the digital world as an affiliate marketer, driven by the desire to augment his income that was not meeting his needs. At first, he started a website for fun about getting rid of the double chin, which worked well. Also, it did generate a lot of revenue. He tried building more websites but couldn't attain that much success. He thought it over and started analyzing what worked well for that niche website. He focuses on getting skilled and gaining expertise in a specific field. That is 'niching up' in terms of digital marketing. He operates rankings.io, a thriving specialized website catering to a few clients. Over the years, he has acquired in-depth knowledge about the industry, enabling him to provide his clients with exceptional services and command higher fees. Each of the pros of niching is dealt with in detail in separate chapters. Overall, the author focuses on being a master of a specific skill.
I liked the approach of the book. The style of writing in this book is story-telling. It feels like the author is sitting near you and telling you about his journey and experiences, just like a podcast. The arrangement of the topics is truly exquisite. The next question that would probably pop into the reader's mind after reading the previous one is answered following it. It might have taken a lot of research to put the ideas for such a natural flow. I was astonished by this.
There was nothing in this book to dislike. But I was expecting more technical stuff in this book, which could act as a guide for the players in the game of SEO. If the author included the trigger points that influenced his decision-making process, it would have been a valuable addition to his description of his actions and subsequent incidents.
I would rate this book 5 out of 5, owing to the knowledge it provides to the reader and the exceptional editing. I recommend this book to digital marketing enthusiasts and experts, as it provides valuable insight and motivation to be adaptable and ready for change.
