Having grown up in The Hague, Monique had been exposed to Nature at a very young age. Her mother would grow beautiful flowers in window boxes. In her primary school, she had the opportunity to grow flowers and plants on a small piece of land allocated to her. Her love for Nature led her to become a naturopathic nutritional therapist and has pushed her to write this book.

In Conversations on the Lost Connection with Nature by Monique Parker, she speaks about our body's connection with Nature and how our diet affects our connection with Nature. She also pens down her personal journey and connection with Nature, as well as the effects it has had on her. Are you curious about how Nature affects you? Then, this book is for you!

There are so many positive aspects to this book. In her writings, Monique interviewed 27 Nature lovers who have committed their lives and careers to taking care of Nature and helping others understand how important it is to be connected to Nature. This was the most striking attribute of the book to me. She had briefly introduced them, giving an overview of their lives. They were asked about their earliest connection with Nature, if they ever disconnected, and how they rekindled their connection with Nature, amongst other questions. Each person had a different story to tell about when and how their journey with Nature began. They were all inspirational and would fill readers with the hunger to include Nature in their lives and care for it. One fascinating observation was how the author viewed Nature as living and always regarded it as such, with a capitalization of the first letter.

The book is highly educational. Prior to reading it, I had never heard of terms like circadian rhythms nor knew the effects interruptions in our circadian rhythms could cause. It was an eye-opener. The author also put a lot of research into writing this book, and I must commend that. If the interviews were not a giveaway, the references, links, recommendations, and, at times, social media handles are evidence of her thorough research. For people who have lost their connection to Nature or never felt connected, she provides an antidote to their problem. She writes about diverse ways to re-ignite the connection and enjoy the benefits of Nature.

Also, this book was professionally edited. I only encountered one slight spelling error while reading. There was nothing I disliked about this book. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This is because the book accomplished its purpose of raising awareness about the beauty of Nature, causing people to be more self-aware and appreciative of our environment. The much we expect from Nature is the much we should put into it. I recommend this book to Nature lovers, people aiming to live a sustainable lifestyle, and anyone interested in pro-environmentalism.

I'm very curious how the author ties diet to our connection with Nature! I've always been an "outdoorsy" person, and after spending a day hiking or paddling I always feel refreshed and calm. Instinctively I feel the connections with nature, but being able to articulate it has never crossed my mind. I enjoyed your review, thanks so much for sharing.
