I advise anyone who is having trouble identifying their mission and figuring out how to pursue it to read this book. I also suggest this book to anyone who has nostalgia for the community we once had and the desire to restore it. Gina Bianchini's nonfiction book Purpose discusses how to establish a community.
There were many good things about this novel. It had few flaws and was obviously edited by an expert. Gina Bianchini offers several original viewpoints on community and how to use technology for community benefit. Nowadays, the majority of online communities that are developed don't actually bring people together and rather foster hatred. She shows how to foster genuine kinship and fun in your neighborhood. It motivated me to seek out my purpose and create a network of people who share it.
The first chapter of the book was a little difficult for me to get through because it focused so much on the author's prior experiences, which I found difficult to relate to in many ways. Gina starts off with a personal history, using her story as an example. Then in turn helps you figure out how to use your own story as an impetus for action. No car-salesman rhetoric or gimmicky self- help guru talk. She is honest and transparent and before you realize it, you are coming up with ideas for your own purpose and with a clear vision on how to start. She shows how everyone can be more than they think they are. Thank you, Gina, for your enthusiasm and the breath of fresh air that people and this genre so needed.
