Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement, authored by E. Alan Fleischauer, is a book about planning ahead. The central theme is retirement, particularly finance, but it also covers other relevant aspects. The author starts by talking about income protection for retirement. He goes into more detail on the significance of having either personal or group disability insurance. Later, the author shares a variety of career assessment tests; he elaborates on his personal use of them while mocking or praising them. The author also discusses the Envestment Money Guide in further detail, covering every aspect of it from the beginning to the end. He addresses concerns about retirement like dependency, health, and quality of life with increased life expectancy. Life insurance, term insurance, funeral insurance, and annuities are also discussed. He describes social security programs. Further, he talks about Medicare and Medicaid in relation to healthcare facilities. Trusts and wills are also discussed.
This book covers all the necessary elements of retirement planning. I loved the tone of the author; it was jolly, sarcastic, young, and energetic. The hilarity made me chuckle a lot of times. I particularly commend the book for the detailing with which all the topics are explained. It also suggested the best and most trusted options, like the Envestment Money Guide and Medicare. I only overlooked the career evaluation tests because I didn't feel a personal need to take them. But I am sure they must be as useful as the other things shared in the book. This book added so much knowledge to me, and some of it was mind-bogling. For example, I could have never thought about different permutations and combinations of spousal benefits with respect to relationship status. He concludes by making recommendations for books in a similar category, which shows his genuine will to help people.
There was nothing that I really disliked about the book. I just wish that language was a little simpler. But I wouldn't mind deducting a star for it.
I did not find any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors throughout the book, so this book was exceptionally well edited. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
I recommend this book specifically to those who are moving towards retirement age. At the same time, I recommend this for those interested in the topic.
