Four-year-old Priyanka and her two-year-old sister Deepika dream of visiting heaven. In Snatched up to Heaven!: Astounding testimonies of heaven and hell from the mouths of babes, Jemima Paul, Ph.D., and her husband, Arvind Paul, record their children’s vision. In addition to the children's testimonies, she uses accounts given in the Bible to add adult interpretations of their stories.

The account starts with the children dreaming of angels taking them to heaven. They describe how heaven looks, the people there, and what they did in heaven. Jesus meets them, and the girls learn the rules of heaven. Jesus shows them hell, which the girls describe as well.

Apart from the visions, Paul provides a side-by-side comparison of heaven and hell and an account of how Priyanka’s and Deepika’s experiences affected the family. Two appendices appear at the end of the book. Appendix A contains links to YouTube videos of the girls' testimonies, made at ages four and two. Photos of the family and pictures the sisters drew of heaven and hell are in Appendix B.

I like how the author first tells the children’s stories without adult comments. Dr. Paul adds her adult interpretation of the visions in the following section, explaining her reasoning and citing supporting Bible verses. Take, for example, the girls’ description of heaven. The girls describe the light in heaven, streets paved with gold, the house, the gate, the door, walls, rooms, and the rainbow. Dr. Paul shows that the Bible tells us these things and refers us to the Book of Revelation, the Second Letter of the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians, and the Gospel of John.

The book shows some balance when Priyanka and Deepika describe hell as the opposite of heaven. Especially intriguing is when they mention Lost hell, where the people are lonely and bored.

The closest thing to a negative about this book is my pet peeve: rhetorical questions. Towards the end of the book, Dr. Paul asks: “Will You Make Heaven Rejoice!” My rhetorical answer: I would not have read to this point if I had decided not to make Heaven rejoice.

I rate Snatched up to Heaven! 5 out of 5 stars. Dr. Paul presents the children’s experiences first and adds her interpretations afterward. Her reasoning is well-thought-out, clearly presented, and backed with Bible references. The writing is clear and well-edited. I did not find any errors to distract from my reading. I recommend this book primarily to Christian readers, but agnostics open to the Christian viewpoint would also enjoy this book.
