Niching Up is a must-read for anyone who has recently started a business or is preparing to start a business.
The author, Chris Dreyer, provides an excellent guide here that covers the pros and cons of niching, the importance of standing out in a busy marketplace, and the power of becoming an expert in your niche. Chris' expertise in niching is evident in his storytelling about his own SEO business and notable success.

The book is well-edited and it makes for easy reading. The purpose of the book was to offer the perspective of niching to create abundance versus creating scarcity. In my opinion, the author achieved this. The benefits of niching up are cleverly illustrated throughout the book, including a case study of the author's business that demonstrates his formula in action.

My favorite parts of the book are the storytelling as well as the various references provided by the author, showing further proof of his commitment to expertise. The book over-delivers in the value department. Covering topics such as personal expertise, pricing, relationship equity, and even referrals. For me, these were bonus topics and areas where new business owners tend to struggle the most. Having this book as a guide can save hours of research, and provide clarity and sound business advice.

The author shares funny metaphors throughout the book, most of which I enjoyed. There were a few gaming references that went over my head, but they did not disrupt my reading experience. The author shares parallels in his business that help the reader visualize how these practices can be applied to their respective niche.

In conclusion, I highly recommend Niching Up as a comprehensive guide for niching as well as fundamental business practices as told by a successful self-starting entrepreneur. There are many useful practices shared about starting, iterating, and ultimately mastering a niche. For this reason, I give this book a 5 out of 5.
