A Dream For Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a personal memoir tracking the author's inspiring journey as a peacemaker and freedom fighter for the independence of his homeland, Algeria.

Dr. Berrah was a medical student in France. After he fled the country, he got arrested after he arrived in Spain. Later, his work got him the title of American Man of Science, and he became a member of the New York Academy of Science. In this haphazard and fast-paced world, we all feel the need to attain peace. With the rise of conflicts and wars in many parts of the world, it is important to seek sustainable solutions. In this book, through the author's experiences, we can learn about many aspects of humanitarian crises. Dr. Berrah dreamt of becoming an acrobatic rider, but he never thought he would become a global diplomat. He emphasized the need to communicate in order to look for peace. He challenged stereotypes by explaining the crucial roles of women during political crises.

The best thing about this book were the numerous pictures that I found while reading, like his certificates and achievements, which prove authenticity. He was a great scientist who worked on viruses and their enzymes. I got sad when I got to know that the author is no more, but his insightful narrative brings history to life. His life story inspires resilience, determination, and courage, making it a must-read for people looking for motivation.

Although there's absolutely nothing that I disliked about this book, some people might find it a bit lengthy. This book is the culmination of an exceptionally lived life. Reading the independence struggle from a freedom fighter's autobiography gave me goosebumps. The writing style is clean and clear. It's like having a conversation with a highly intellectual person.

As I'm so glad that I picked this book, I'm going to rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I will recommend this book to people studying geopolitics and Algeria's independence. People who can get triggered by war or violence should avoid this book. People looking to get inspired by someone's life will definitely find it helpful.
