I went into this book very curious, because as a Christian, I have often found myself asking this question, despite being told early in my journey that we should never question God. As someone who has been dealing with chronic illness since 2019 and just yesterday being in a car accident, it was an especially necessary read now. After having finished this book, I’ve decided to give it a 5 star rating.

The grammar and spelling was excellent, and there was no sexual content or profanity. I like how thoroughly everything was explained and the structure of the whole book. Even while moving on to other sub points, references were made to previous points that helped continuity, flow and linkage of ideas. Sufficient background and forewarnings were given, while also giving practical examples, using the scripture as support and the inclusion of all sources used when they were used in the various footnotes and reference list. There was also lack of bias since counter arguments were mentioned and then refuted with the aforementioned sources and biblical verses. It made me more confident in the author since I know extensive research was done.

However, I wish that some of the ideas were more succinct because it made the sentences very long and wordy. Also, I think too much time was spent on the idea of human happiness and it's sources, with many studies being mentioned that I personally didn't think we're all that necessary. I didn't understand the correlation between those happiness studies and the point of God being all-loving. Additionally, there was an example given that mentioned the act of suicide which I personally would have refrained from using. Other than that, I feel like I was given very good reasons that answered the question completely, and I can be comforted by the fact that I no longer have to ask, "why me?"
