Review of The Bad Day Book

Inevitably, everyone has had good days and bad days. Laughter is one way to lessen the downcast that comes with bad-day experiences. Through her compilation of real-life stories, Amilee Weaver Selfridge birthed The Bad Day Book. A safe space where people can funnily share their bad day experiences and laugh at stories of bad days. With short, funny, and entertaining stories from different authors, Amilee reminds us that a laugh may just be all we need to turn around a bad day!
There are so many lovely and positive attributes to this book. I applaud the ingenuity of the author for creating a safe space where people can share their bad experiences, have a good laugh, and get some emotional respite. The narrations are not just restricted to funny stories but also include embarrassing ones as well, and the author created a safe space to share them all. However, the author was also sensitive enough to draw a line between bad-day stories and terrible-day stories. Terrible-day stories are delicate to joke about. The stories were short.
The longest length any story can be would be five pages. Everything about the book alludes to a free, non-judgmental, and funny ambiance and feel. This includes the cartoony graphics included occasionally, the font of the book, and the hilarious chapter titles. Who would not snicker at the title "The Dubble Bubble Bubblegum Caper"?
I appreciate how the author structured the book. The book is divided into ten sections. The basis for the division is well thought out and in no way random. For instance, stories under "Schooled in Life" all talked about school and the bad experiences individuals have had in the educational system, either as teachers or students.
There was nothing to dislike about this book. I found a few errors in it, and it was professionally edited. For me, the stories not only entertained readers but also gave some consolation that bad days do not last forever and we are not alone in our experiences. This book contains a lot of positives, and I truly enjoyed it, so I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to people who enjoy reading funny stories, short tales, and real-life stories.
