Every once in a while, I get to read books which are so well-written that I just have to recommend it to others. The Happy Caveman: A Quick and Easy Guide to Achieving Happiness by Marcus Albright is one of those books.

The Happy Caveman: A Quick and Easy Guide to Achieving Happiness is a self-actualization guide to the 21st-century happiness. This book teaches the readers how to achieve happiness in a quick and easy way. It gives the readers, especially men, a better understanding of the word “happiness.” Furthermore, the book offers step-by-step instruction on how to attain happiness. Mr. Albright also gives tips to make each step easier and reachable.

I find this book very encouraging and relatable even if the book was written specifically to appeal to male readers. Many authors had broached the topic of a person’s happiness, but only a few of them tried and gave emphasis on men’s happiness. This rarity added to the book’s charms. Additionally, this is a well-researched book, citing quite a number of references. It clearly showed that the author did his research, analyzed and organized the data, and incorporated it to his writings. The author also raised some thought-provoking questions (queries like whether or not the readers think happiness is obtainable, and the readers' own definition of happiness) that motivated the readers think hard and think deep.

There were some weak points which I believe are worth mentioning, though. One is that the book is a little bit bland. Some readers (like me) find it challenging to continually read if there is a lack of entertainment in it. An addition of illustrations or humor would help improve the book. Another circumstance is the use of “caveman” on the title. There was no explanation given in the book why it was versed that way, so it is rather unclear. Lastly, the premise of a “quick and easy” guide may not be as quick and easy if the reader would not openly take Mr. Albright’s proposals. It may take some time for others, but as long as the reader rigorously follows the author’s suggestions, then happiness would not be too far.

Notwithstanding the minor points I previously mentioned, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. For anyone who’s been feeling down and think that happiness has gone out of their lives, you might want give this book a try. The book is very insightful. It reminds the readers that everyone can be happy, and anyone can achieve it.

Great review! This sounds like a promising book, despite the flaws. I have a psychology degree, and I especially like learning and studying about happiness. There is so much literature on depression, but hardly anything on happiness!

Thank you, LivreAmour217! That's what makes this book unique. Not a lot of authors touch this subject that's why it's very refreshing to read.
