‘Thriving in the Storm’, is written by William Murphy. In this book, he has mentioned nine principles to help you overcome any adversity. William has shared his personal life story, which proves that there is a silver lining to almost every situation. Look hard enough, change your perception, or just view things with an open mind, and you will find those silver linings.
It’s a true story about a man who has faced an abusive childhood, a difficult love life, and hardships in life. Despite all these, he succeeded in various aspects of life and became a good person—a good father, mentor, writer, sportsperson, and very successful professional. William, due to his determination, hard work, and positive attitude, had run the Boston Marathon four times, earned a black belt in Krav Maga, and finished the Ironman. William has shared how he completed the fifth Boston Marathon on crutches and got recognition for that.
This book is like a roller coaster ride that keeps readers interested till the end and provides lots of motivation, good points, and exercises for self-assessment and improvement.
The author has shown us how to really make peace with your past. Living with regret is one of the hardest. The past can be painful, but it’s something we all must confront if we want to improve. We all have regrets, and the faster we can make peace, the sooner we can clear our minds and move on. It really makes you feel positive. When you are able to remain positive, it only makes the journey much more rewarding.
William shared his story of how he prepared for the marathon and Ironman by coaching and training. Hiring a new coach and working with them has the benefits of working with a coach and achieving his goals by working in the right direction and with a positive mindset.
I rate ‘Thriving in the Storm’ five out of five. This book is easy to read and understand, and it is very well written and edited. The author has really touched on very important and practical aspects of life in this book and shown a way to always look ahead with a positive mindset and approach to overcome the various storms coming into your life from time to time. Readers will surely benefit and be motivated by this book.
