Do you want to lift your business' profits without having to put in more and more hours? Have you tried expanding your business only to find out you have the same number of clients as before? If so, then Chris Dreyer's Niching Up may be the book for you.

Many people work on the assumption that when they reach a plateau in their revenue, the solution is to add another area of coverage. Dreyer argues for the opposite: that by narrowing your focus into a niche while you may limit your customer pool, you will be able to achieve greater efficiency and lift the overall amount you can charge.

Dreyer builds on his own experience establishing a niche business focused on search engine optimisation for personal injury law firms to give advice suitable for anyone looking to niche.

The book is very easy to read and sets out clearly the pros and cons of niching. It also gives some practical guidance on how to decide if you are ready to niche and if you have found the right niche for you. The book runs through awareness, expertise, premium pricing, conversions, relationship equity, referrals, and efficiency. It is very well edited; I only found one minor error.

Niching won't be for everyone, but this book can help you decide if it could be right for you and your business.

I did not find anything that I disliked about the book.

Overall, I rate Niching Up 5 out of 5 stars. The book is an easy-to-read, well-written guide on niching, and I found nothing to fault with it.

The book would suit anyone who is looking to grow their business. While Dreyer uses his own business as an example throughout the book, this isn't a guide to search enterprise optimisation for personal injury lawyers; it is suitable for any business area.
