It takes nine months to deliver a human baby. A mother goes through a wide range of emotions throughout her pregnancy. In a metaphoric sense, Tania Tomyn delivers her pet dog Wilbur, after nine months, to a special place at the end of this book. Nine Months by Tania Tomyn depicts real-life incidents and an array of emotions that she underwent throughout the course of nine months with her pet dog Wilbur, whom she lovingly calls 'Willy'.

Tania and her husband, Aaron, have been trying to conceive for two years. They tried everything possible, from meeting fertility specialists to artificial insemination, but nothing seemed fruitful. But it was the message from Tania’s best friend, Becky, that filled the void for the couple. Becky sent a picture of little Wilbur, saying that he reminded her of Tania’s pet dog, Hank, and told her that Wilbur recently had eye surgery and is up for adoption. The couple immediately completed the online application for adoption and were approved. Tania was in for a surprise on Willy’s first night at home. Willy’s seemingly innocent and cute snorts turned into blaring snores. Willy had itchy red spots over his abdomen that kept the poor boy uncomfortable.

It is heartbreaking to see a loved one go through sickness and pain. Human beings are capable of communicating their pain, so it is easier to address it and provide support. But animals, on the other hand, are like babies. Due to a lack of communication, a caregiver is faced with difficulties and emotional distress. Not knowing what’s wrong with our child, we are in constant anxiety. Tania and her husband, Aaron, were in a similar position. In the course of nine months, they tried every means possible to keep little Willy happy and pain-free. They visited several veterinarians’, but the solution was temporary.

The uncertainty surrounding Wilbur's health in this book is terrifying. Read this book to find out the toughest decisions one has to take in situations beyond our control. Emotions can sometimes be difficult to put into words, but the author was able to do so effortlessly throughout this book. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to go on an emotional journey filled with happiness and grief.

The story flows smoothly. I have found minor errors, but they are not true errors but are of writing style, and therefore I believe this book is professionally edited. I give this book a rating of 5/5, which it truly deserves.
