“Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book”, written by Kalliope Barlis, is a self-help guide that helps one become very good at golf in no time. The book is sectioned into three parts.

I like that at the start of the book, the author leaves a note for left-handed golfers. It’s important for one to discover what will help one achieve goals in life. Through the use of NLP (neuro-linguistic programming), anyone can change for the better. Changing one’s thoughts to the good ones can positively affect one’s life.

When it comes to golf, there are questions to ask oneself while rehearsing a shot. Again, the author teaches how to utilise one’s sensory organs to achieve a shot. Using proper brain techniques, she trains the reader’s mind into getting a good shot every time.

On page 34, the author tells us to state what we want to achieve and what we don’t want. Doing this cancels out all negatives, and replacing them with positives makes one better in no time. This book helps one transition from positioning one’s mind into getting a good shot to actually getting one. I discovered that playing golf isn’t learned by rote, but by questioning oneself on reasons why a shot didn’t go right.

There’s nothing to dislike about this book. I learned the definition of some terms in golf, such as side hill, downhill, and uphill lie. In addition, there are some physical strategies to employ, such as wind, angle of approach, putting, and so on. The illustrations given at the end of the appendix give a visual representation of the lessons given. I only found an error, which didn’t affect my reading flow.

I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. It is recommended to readers who love golf, including those who would love to improve and learn successful strategies involved in golf.

A book that will guide me to become a professional golfer is quite interesting. It would have been more helpful if I was really interested in being a professional golfer. So I think this book will suit its targeted audience. I might also learn a thing or two from it.
