"The only yip anyone should have in his or her mind is yippee, which is an expression of extreme joy!"

Kalliope Barlis, who went from beginner to pro golfer in the space of just two years, shows you how you can do the same too in Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book. Confidence is the first step to doing anything well, and in addition to providing you with practical and proven techniques to try, this book also addresses the psychological aspects of mastering the game.

The book is split into three quick-to-read parts and offers expert guidance on a number of gaming techniques, including using the Swish Pattern and how to handle sidehill, uphill, and downhill lies. Beyond that, it goes into detail on how to go about having a winner mindset and how to use the connection between your thoughts, your feelings, and your actions to go beyond what you imagine is possible.

Golf is not an easy game, and I would imagine that writing a book on how to get it right is no easy task either. However, Barlis manages to create a guide that not only takes you through the steps of how to be a better player but also leaves you feeling confident and excited to pick up your golf club. Her advice is well-written and well-supported, and she manages to paint a clear picture of what you need to do without rambling on. Reading this book was a pleasure, and even if you don't play golf, the author's wit as well as the solid advice on how to use your mind to get what you want in life make it well worth the read. I would also like to commend the editor for the exceptional job. Taking all these factors into account, it should come as no surprise that I've decided to give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

In the spirit of providing a balanced review, I will point out that while I would strongly recommend this book to both novices and seasoned golfers alike, the book does tend to focus more on the psychological aspects of the game than on technique. Given that it is meant to go inside your golf bag, it is an unsurprisingly short read that doesn't cover many technical details of the game beyond a broad overview. Therefore, I would recommend getting it as a sort of supplement to your golfing bookshelf.

I absolutely agree with you. Having read both of her golf books, I can say that the books do tend to focus more on the psychological aspects of the game than on technique, making them suitable for non-golf players too by imparting valuable life lessons, such as correcting our mental approach and mindset. Your review skillfully captures the essence of the books with precision. Thanks for sharing this well-articulated review!
