Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's "A Dream for Peace" unveils a remarkable journey through the corridors of his memory, painting a vivid tapestry of his life, from the early hues of his Algerian upbringing to his final bow in the world of diplomacy. Born in Algeria, he cast his professional die in the Ivory Coast, a fellow African nation, and his pivot from a career steeped in research and medicine to the realms of high politics and diplomacy is nothing short of extraordinary.

Dr. Berrah's scientific contributions stand as impressive pillars in the structure of his life. His groundbreaking revelation, the Reverse Transcriptase Enzyme Theory, sent shockwaves through the scientific fraternity. Beyond the laboratory, he assumed the role of President Houphouët-Boigny's Special Advisor, and, as if that were not enough, he played a pivotal role in the relentless quest for dialogue between Palestine and Israel.

The echoes of his leadership continue from his days as the president of a group of Muslim students in France, reflecting his inborn ability to inspire and lead. In his tireless efforts to liberate Algerians from colonial oppression, he engraved his commitment to the nationalist cause on the pages of history.

What particularly struck me in this biography is the author's remarkable memory, an accomplishment of extraordinary magnitude. It is a testament to his mental prowess, for which he deserves the highest commendation. Dr. Berrah's dual identity as a Muslim married to a Christian, his extensive network of Jewish connections, and his Western-style education collectively provide a unique lens through which he perceives the complex Israeli-Palestinian conflict, adding an invaluable layer of realism.

The extensive discussion of several subjects, often more than necessary, and the use of foreign French terminology, however, can put off some readers. However, the lack of grammatical errors suggests that the book was professionally edited. I, therefore, give this book a five out of five star rating because its shortcomings do not detract from its overall excellence.

In conclusion, I heartily propose this book to everyone who appreciates reading about African history or autobiographies. Furthermore, it provides anyone interested in politics, history, or the complexity of democracy with a genuinely gratifying and fascinating experience.
