Always Strive to Be a Better You by Pete Hall is a motivational book that reinforces the fact that there is always scope for improvement. Hall argues that irrespective of one’s circumstances, skillset, or socio-economic status there is always room to expand their horizons. Even if one is extremely good at something, they still can get better. To bring home his arguments, Hall introduces readers to extraordinary stories of ordinary people around him.

What made the book relatable was the fact that the author did not write about well-known, exceptional individuals. He writes about seven individuals who weren’t born with some special abilities. They are just ordinary people who developed skills to beat the odds of their circumstances. By telling the stories of these individuals, the author urges readers to reflect and allocate their mental energies to initiate the change they want to bring about.

What I loved the most about the book were the sections within the chapters labelled ‘Pause and Reflect’. I thought that they were very important to think about the content of the chapters and do some meaningful reflection. The book is a bit lengthy and I would have preferred it to be a bit shorter and crispier. Since the individuals the author was talking about were not familiar, there were times I thought disconnected. But I realise the length was necessary to write enough about how people can make positive changes in their lives.

The book is professionally edited. There were no grammatical issues. Overall, I liked reading the book and I think readers will benefit from reading it. I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. I had no complaints about the book.

I recommend this book to readers who are feeling like they haven’t achieved much. Readers who want to increase their limits, bring meaningful changes in their lives, or get better in any aspect of their lives will find good motivation in this book.
