[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "God's Truth vs. Man's Facts" by Mantia Griffin.]

The idea of faith is becoming a rare commodity in a world that is so fully entrenched in scientific ideas. Mantia Griffin in this short novel attempts to destroy our ideas about what faith means. Griffin believes that faith is the most important thing that we need in our lives. Faith is what will help us to accomplish anything that we choose to do in our lives. Without faith God will not reward us, and we will be missing out on the great things that we could have in our lives.

Griffin paints a picture that shows how if we trust God and that He has a plan for us then whatever we need will be given to us. This is a very extreme stance for today’s society. Today, people believe that you have to work to get what you want. Griffin is trying to challenge us to simply trust that God will take care of us.

This book is about the idea that God’s way is different from the facts of science. The author compares and contrasts these ideas in every chapter of this short novel. Each chapter is about a different issue that arises in a normal lifespan. Griffin compares how we normally deal with these issues and compares that to the way that we should deal with them if we are trusting in God. She shares many personal stories and how she leaned on God and trusted him completely. Because of her faith she was rewarded and God provided for her. She believes that when you do not have faith in God, then you will eventually sink into what she calls the depths of despair. She also thinks that God has planned our lives for us, which is why we should have complete faith that everything in our lives will work out for the best.

This book is a beacon of hope for those who want to believe that their life has meaning. This book would allow some to breathe a sigh of relief and let go of some of the stress of their life and embrace a faith in God.

God loves us and in His infinite wisdom has worked out everything that could possibly happen in our lives.

While this book could be a great read for some, it was not quite as enjoyable for me. I found it hard to read, simply because it seems to be based on the idea of not doing anything for yourself and allowing God’s plan for your life to unfold in front of you instead. I do not personally believe in predestination, which is a large portion of the book. I am a woman of science, so I lean heavily on facts, because I do not have faith that everything will happen for me.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. I give it this rating, because while it was well written, it also could step on a lot of people’s toes. I think that it is almost harsh sounding to people who are not Christian, or Christians who have a milder faith. I think that it would be a good book for a select crowd. The majority of people will not finish the book or even decide to pick it up.

I totally agree with Rachel019.
I am a Christian and the Bible says "heaven help those who help themselves." In other words, you have to go out there and get your
hands dirty-- i man that in the most Christian way of-course. I know that manna fell from heaven to the Israelite but God is no fool, he knew that there was no cooking utensils in the desert, hence the Manna. The Bible also "there is no food for the lazy man" all these means is, go out there and do the work. For instance, i am a new blogger, i woke up this morning, said my prayers, i hopped on my computer, went to my browser and typed "how to monetize my blog" and that's how i got here. I did not say 'well, i just had an explosive morning prayer session so God is going to give an Angel a big brown envelop filled with money to drop on my porch' that is ridiculous. I know that i serve a miracle working God but i have a part to play, which i will.

Thank you for your comment. I'm glad that you saw my side of the argument. I think it's great that you were able to find a good reference describing how the Bible actually deals with working versus trusting God.

I completely agree with the post above. To whom much is given, much will be required- Luke 12:48. We can't just wait around expecting to receive things from God without doing our part and taking responsibility. Faith is an extraordinary thing to have but God gave us gifts to use and expects us to evangelize. I do believe God has our lives planned out but we have to choose to keep is will/plan or go our own path. What would be the point of faith and grace if God made us walk his path for our lives? Plus, God allows us to go through trials and tribulations to shape us. We must have faith that God will get us through them. But that doesn't mean you can be lazy christian. Thank you for the honest review. It was well written!

I believe in having faith and trusting God, but I believe that He will direct you and help you through difficulties, but He also wants us to make good decisions and take action.
It seems strange to me when people put God and science as opposing views. God made science, sure there are theories that don't line up with what God has said is true, but proven facts are not in opposition to God. That doesn't mean that God doesn't work miracles, but those are exceptions.

I can see how people might think this stance is a little harsh. As a Christian myself, I prefer a milder approach to the concept. Great job on the review.

It sounds like the book is not for everyone. Still, it seems like one thought-provoking book. Do I really have control over my life, or is my life just like how God designed it to be? Or something like that. Great job on the review.
