Review of Swallows Also Fall
Swallows Also Fall is a historical fiction novel that tells the story of Marcel-li Massana, a Catalan resistance fighter who fought against Franco's dictatorship in Spain during the 1940s. The novel is narrated from the perspectives of his foster mother, his foster sister, and himself, giving a glimpse into the lives of the women who supported him and the land that shaped him. The novel is based on real events and characters, and it explores the themes of war, oppression, loyalty, love, and sacrifice.
The novel is well-written and engaging, with a fast-paced plot that keeps the reader hooked. The author does a good job of blending fact and fiction, and providing historical and cultural context for the events and the characters. The novel also offers a powerful insight into the Spanish Civil War and its aftermath, and the struggles and hardships of the people who lived under Franco's regime. The novel shows the brutality and violence of the war, but also the courage and resilience of the resistance fighters and the civilians who supported them.
The novel has a few grammatical errors and typos, such as missing commas, incorrect verb tenses, and inconsistent spelling of some names. For example, on page 12, the sentence "He was a good man, he had always been" should have a semicolon instead of a comma. On page 35, the sentence "He had been living in France since the end of the war" should be in the past perfect tense, as "He had lived in France since the end of the war". On page 47, the name "Marcel-li" is spelled as "Marceli" without the hyphen. These errors are minor and do not affect the overall readability and quality of the novel, but they could have been avoided with better proofreading and editing.
I would rate this novel 4 out of 5 stars, as I found it to be a fascinating and compelling read that transported me to a different time and place, and made me empathize with the characters and their struggles. I would recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys historical fiction, especially those who are interested in learning more about the Spanish Civil War and its consequences. Swallows Also Fall is a novel that will not only entertain, but also educate and inspire.

I notice grammatical errors without even trying. I was drawn to this book simply by the cover; Upon reading your review, I will not read it right away.
I will, however, keep my eye out for a revised edition in the future; that decision is also based on your review. Your review showed many aspects of the story that I will enjoy. The most important one, in my opinion, the importance of family. The history woven into this book is another reason I believe I will wait for an edited version to be released.
Thanks again.
