All for the Love of Dog by Ilona Benzel (a former ACO) recounts the protagonist's experience when she was working as an ACO. On one occasion, she deployed her dog Kai to locate a lost shepherd, Zack, in the woods, and the search party couldn't find him. Kai was a trained dog and performed a plethora of tasks, including deflecting a big bull into the corral. Owning seven shepherds equipped her with extensive knowledge of dealing with this breed of dogs. She got accustomed to receiving dispatch calls from people reporting injured, lost, and deserted dogs. Excitingly, she also reconnected dogs to their owners. The book is laden with pictorials of a variety of breeds.

My favorite aspect was the protagonist’s swiftness to action. Anytime her and Bruce's attention was needed, they would show up and offer their assistance. Bruce was her husband. She recounts how she was almost run over by horses one evening. This unwavering commitment to her work shows that she values the welfare of animals. It is also fascinating how she immediately struck a connection with estranged animals. Even without any prior encounter, the protagonist made the dogs and horses feel safe with her. How she could tell the intimate needs of her 'clients' is astonishing yet fascinating.

My dislike stems from the numerous grammatical issues in the book. Lots of the errors impede the flow of the message in the book. While I understand that this book wasn't designated to be detailed, I wish other encounters with some dogs lasted longer. This, however, is a personal preference. Unfortunately, I'd still dock some points due to the multitude of grammatical errors and rate the book 3 out of 5 stars. I relish the characters' fearless personalities. The protagonist doesn't compromise the needs of animals but champions for their rights.

This is a book I recommend to lovers of animals, especially dogs. You'll learn the different breeds of animals, how to protect them, and appreciate the efforts and commitment of animal rescue teams.

I would really love to learn from the extensive knowledge about the shepherd bread of dogs discussed in this book.
