Review of Involuntary Reroute
Robert Laney's book Involuntary Reroute supplies us with information showing us how the airline industry has changed over the years. As we delve into the pages, we get to see how the airline industry prompted him and his mother to make changes and lower the costs of first class tickets so that the less unfortunate working class people can have access to them. If you have an interest in tourism and the travel industry, this book is for you.
In business, the idea is to make profit whilst also allowing other people to enjoy the product you offer. For a long time, the airline business has been pricey in terms of first class tickets. Robert Laney worked hard all of his educative life, and dreamed of starting his own business. His mother was a former travel agent, so she was comfortable with the airline prices. Robert Laney and his mother repetitively saw the average price of first class tickets especially increase each year, but the seats did not fill up quite as quick. At this time, the prices for the tickets were only available for those who had disposable income left. This led them not to make profit as the seats were not being filled. This piqued the interest of Robert and his mother. Both his mother and Robert laid out a business plan that would see the prices for first class tickets be less than the average price ones you see now. Not only will they benefit those on a tight budget, but it will also guarantee them profit. First class seats to us are known as luxurious treats, and these are not available to everyone because of the extortionate pricing, so by lowering the cost it would mean that more people will enjoy the benefit, and not just those who have disposable income to throw away on luxurious flights and holidays. Get yourself a copy of this book if you wish to follow Laney's journey to finding a different way that allows people the equal opportunity to experience first class ticket luxurious seats.
Robert Laney has done an exceptional job with this book. The language used in this book is simple, engaging and informative. All these things are the recipe for an intriguing reading. I found it interesting how he suggested that Laney and his mother were able to build a business without any start up money. Also, I like how Laney had pointed out important setbacks that are present during start a business. You cannot start a business without setbacks. Your business will continue to thrive if you push through the setbacks rather than stopping at the first handle. The structure of the book is also fitting, and I liked that.
In terms of negative aspects, it is quite difficult to critique this book. The book is intriguing, interesting and educational. I loved it all. The moral of the story for me is that you should never give up, setbacks are common in the beginning of any business and are essential for you to improve and achieve in the long run. The book is also error-free, allowing an easy, and peaceful reading.
I give the book 5 out of 5 stars. The journey that Robert Laney and his mother went on is inspirational. The relationship between them is loving, and I like that. On a personal note, I find it quite difficult to work with family, however Robert Laney and his mother do it with ease. I have given the book a full rating because the book is fascinating start to finish. It is a book that would help those who are thinking of starting their own business. I think that the book would appeal to those who have an interest in the travel industry and tourism.
