In his book "Niching Up: The Narrower the Market, the Bigger the Prize," Chris Dreyer takes the reader on a clear and concise journey of his method to convert your broader-focused business into a streamlined and efficient machine that zeroes in on one specific sector.

Chris uses his own experience and past business successes and failures to demonstrate his reasoning for suggesting certain tactics in narrowly defining your product to ultimately expand your customer-base and increase revenue. He explains clearly how his journey has led him to defining the method discussed in "Niching Up," with amusing stories and analogies along the way.

The writing style is clear and conversational, almost giving the reader the feel of listening to a presentation from, or having a chat with, the author. There are a range of analogies used to demonstrates points, clearly well-thought out with an aim to appeal to a range of readers. There is limited use of jargon, and when it is used, is always clearly explained. Best of all, the focus that Chris advises his readers to develop to successfully find their niche is clearly demonstrated throughout the book. There is a consistent quality delivery with no notable errors, and each chapter is a specific topic that is clearly linked to the overall subject.

Were I a business-owner looking to redefine my specialty, this book would be a useful and encouraging source for determining how to approach what could feel like a dramatic change. Chris leaves the reader feeling empowered and capable, acting as both instructor and cheerleader. He clearly states he believes in helping others when possible, and this book is a clear representation of how he is practicing what he preaches. I recommend this book as an effective and engaging tool for anyone currently or considering (re)defining their business.
