Review of First Survivor
How wealthy we are and the abundance of material possessions pale in comparison to the paramount importance of health. Without good health, all other possessions lose their value. First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough, written by Mark Unger, chronicles the emotional and resolute journey of the Unger family to cure the life-threatening illness that afflicted their son, Louis, the child of Mark Unger and Ellen Unger.
The book depicts the resolute journey of Louis, a young child diagnosed with the deadly disease leukemia, along with his family. Louis’s mother, Ellen, observes him experiencing difficulties in walking and a reluctance to talk and eat. Concerned, the family seeks a doctor’s consultation, revealing that Louis has stage 4 neuroblastoma, later compounded by a diagnosis of leukemia. The family is devastated by the news of their young child’s condition, yet they exhibit relentless determination to face a seemingly hopeless situation.
Ellen and Mark exerted their utmost effort to improve their son’s condition by seeking the best medical resources and consulting top doctors. We must commend Louis for his unwavering determination, which ultimately led to his triumph in the battle against the devastating illness. To learn more about the Unger family’s journey in overcoming such a challenging situation, one should read First Survivor: The Impossible Childhood Cancer Breakthrough.
I thoroughly enjoy this book, and it evoked strong emotions in me. It beautifully illustrates the lengths parents are willing to go for their children. The narrative instills hope and serves as an inspiration. The author’s writing style actively engages readers, drawing them into the story. The book emphasizes that even in moments of despair, there is always a ray of hope.
There is nothing I dislike about the book; it is absolutely error free, making it exceptional. There is profanity within its pages. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars for the incredible sense of hope and emotion it delivers. I highly recommend this book to people seeking inspiration from reads like this.
