First Survivor by Mark Unger gives anybody reading it a peek into the Unger family's journey as they face their son's fight against cancer.

In First Survivor by Mark Unger, Louis is diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the tender age of three, and he battles this rare form of cancer that mostly affects young kids. In the book, Mark Unger shares the tough times his family went through after learning about Louis's diagnosis. He quickly dove into research, reaching out to top specialists and seeking advice from many to find the best way to help his son. Just when it seemed like everything was going fine, another setback was experienced.

The book features heartwarming photos of Louis’ growth, displaying his infectious smile and bright eyes. The vivid descriptions take us through the highs and lows of Louis’ life during these challenging years, from heartbreaking moments of suffering to joyous times playing with his brother. The impact on everyone’s life and emotions is also explored, adding another layer to the family's struggle. Mark and Mary Ellen's notes and reflections reveal the immense difficulty they faced in managing such an overwhelming situation.

There isn't anything to dislike about this book. While it does contain medical jargon and descriptions of procedures, it's important for readers to take the time to understand the medical side of the story. Mark, the author, encourages readers to grasp the medical knowledge he has acquired. For those finding the medical terms a bit challenging, the book includes a well-written glossary at the end, breaking down procedures, medications, and terminology for everyone to understand.

There were no errors in this book. It was exceptionally edited. I found this book to be heartwarming, and I had no dislike for it, so I am rating it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to people who like emotional true-life stories.
