Apart from your family members, when last did you relate with people with a sincere heart? Not because of the benefits you want to get from the relationship, not because of the dollar sign you have placed on them, but because you want to help and get to know them. This is what Stan Gwizdak emphasizes in the book Karmic Selling: Earning Business by Earning Trust.

In this book, Stan discussed how he turned from an ordinary sales boy to a successful businessman just because of a change in his mindset, a change birthed after he had an accident in November 2004. After a slight escape from death, Stan began to see the world differently. He initially viewed people as dollar signs, thinking only how he would do business with them without any interest in their affairs. Upon returning from the accident, he rediscovered the path to success by engaging in genuine interactions and relationships with individuals he approached for business. He developed a how-can-I-help-you mindset over his initial success-at-all-cost mindset.

This book is one of the best books I read this year. It highlights the areas I need to work on personally. Stan focuses on the need, the benefits, and the steps to approach business with kindness and authenticity. The focus is not solely on business approaches, but also on developing and maintaining friendly relationships with others. Stan encourages readers to find success while serving others, not by stepping on them just to get to the top. He points out the fact that people will never forget how one made them feel even if they forget what one said or did.

I am fond of the quotes that precede each chapter. Pictorial evidence and references were also included to back up the information provided. I was able to learn a lot from the book, starting from how to interact with new people to how I can maintain or revive old relationships. I also discovered that having a clean heart and an I-want-to-help mindset is the foundation for a genuine and productive business relationship.

I obviously have nothing to dislike in this book. Although I encountered some errors, I am confident that they can be rectified with just a round of editing. The story was well-written and edited. The message passed was practical and well relayed. I give Stan kudos and give the book a complete rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

I recommend this book to every young adult and mature reader, especially those involved in businesses where they interact directly with other people. People interested in improving their relationships with others can do well to read this book too.
