Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a well-researched, brilliantly crafted book that provides a detailed analysis of everything concerning retirement planning. Regarded by many as a Retirement Planning 101 guide, this highly beneficial publication offers intricate information on how best to plan for retirement. Debunking several myths and offering excellent advice on the best path to living a great life after leaving the workforce, the author provides valuable insights on different retirement strategies and proven methods, which he himself has shared with his satisfied clientele. This book adeptly shares valuable insights on career planning, 401(k) savings, social security, IRAs, income diversification, stocks, and many other financially favourable strategies, effectively spreading the gospel of reconfiguring retirement planning for maximum benefits.
Sincerely speaking, before reading this book, I had unconsciously postponed anything that had to do with retirement planning to my early 50s. Reading this gave me valuable insight into the pros of early retirement planning, a subject I hadn’t considered beforehand. Using proven research and past records, Alan reveals to us why early retirement planning, especially from the onset of your career, could actually lead to much more benefits for you in the future. He even went out of his way to provide several external career test exercises, most of which proved useful to me. Honestly, the knowledge acquired from this book is comparable to the value one might expect from paying a substantial sum to a financial adviser, who, at times, proves to be less worthwhile than the amount spent.
Interestingly, the author added a brilliant style to this book that made the reading experience more rewarding. In each chapter, he included one or two corny jokes, and they always lightened the dense fog building up in my head due to the finance jargon. The writing style was highly conversational, facilitating an easy assimilation process. It felt akin to a discussion between two old friends, and this really enhanced the overall reading experience.
I found nothing particularly wrong with this book. It delves into an exceedingly valuable subject, and its straightforward analysis of something as intricate as retirement planning sets it apart as an exceptional read. However, it employs ambiguous financial terms, which is unsurprising given its main subject. Nonetheless, the conversational writing style overshadows this ambiguity, making it less of a concern and not necessarily a negative aspect.
This book was professionally edited, brilliantly scripted, and highly impactful. I give it a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars, as it checked every box on my list, making it an outstanding read. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a comprehensive and accessible guide to retirement planning. Whether you're in the early stages of your career or approaching retirement age, this book provides valuable insights that can benefit individuals at various life stages.
