"Niching Up: The Narrower the Market, the Bigger the Prize" by Chris Dreyer is a book focused on a niche business strategy. It's partially a guidebook, partially a description of a life journey, and partially thorough advice from an expert in the field that feels more like advice from a close friend. It is advice that can accelerate your learning because you can learn from someone else's mistakes instead of making your own.

This is a book written by the CEO of a successful SEO agency that specializes in personal injury law firms. Yet, it doesn't feel like it (in a good way). Reading it feels like listening to your friend share his life wisdom, full of jokes and anecdotes, short life stories, and amazing parallels.

I've met some experts before. I admired them and wanted to learn from them. However, they weren't offering help or any useful information. They were just full of themselves, telling me that they are amazing and everyone needs them because they have some unique experiences. They were telling me that I needed to become knowledgeable enough to make people want me, specifically. But they didn't say how to do it. They just wanted to show off.

Chris is nothing like that. From the beginning, he has been building an amazing relationship with the reader. He talks about his life journey and explains what was right and what was wrong. Then he explains what niching is and what its ups and downs are; he also tries to get rid of some bias about niching. Even though he recommends niching, he doesn't say that not niching is wrong. The path of every business is different.

In this book, Chris answers the questions "Should I niche?" and "When should I niche?". He also explains how to find niches and how to choose the one that suits you the best. He shows it all using examples from his life. He also describes how to build status and relationships with clients, how to work with referrals, how to decide how much you are worth, how to be efficient, and much more.

I loved this book. Even though I do not have a business of my own, I love learning about businesses, and this book gave me a huge insight. I can see why the company I work for makes some specific decisions, and I can even think of a better way to do some things. Now, I also know how to find a niche if I need one, which will be useful for my future.

What did I love the most? The analogies. Chris is a bit of a nerd or geek, and he compares some business practices and experiences to movies and games. He mentions Star Wars, Harry Potter, Loki, Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, fantasy football, and many more. Reading this book really felt like talking to a good friend. However, if you are not familiar with these things or straight-up dislike them, be aware of their presence. For someone, this might be annoying.

This book was well-written and easy to read. It was full of great examples, and everything was explained in a very easy way. Thus, this topic is accessible to everyone. This book was professionally edited; I did not find any mistakes. I did not find anything to dislike; therefore, based on the things said above, I give it a rating of 5 out of 5.
