Review of Snatched Up to Heaven!
Before watching the YouTube links provided in this book, I thought this was one of those religious texts founded on subjective beliefs alone. As a Christian, I have come across several accounts of people who claim to have gone to heaven and back. However, it is always their word against other contrasting opinions. Snatched Up to Heaven! by Jemima Paul and Arvind Paul recounts the experiences of their two daughters, Priyanka and Deepika.
Most of us only make sense of our dreams once we connect them to our lived experiences. One morning in May 2011, four-year-old Priyanka informed Jemima that she had dreamt about heaven. Priyanka’s two-year-old sister, Deepika, later told her parents about being carried to heaven. The two girls then described the magnificence of heaven, including friendly wild animals, golden architecture and happy people.
My favorite aspect of this book is the foundation for Jemima’s interpretation. She backs up her discussion with Bible excerpts and verses that authenticate her arguments. I also liked that she first provided the raw testimonies of Priyanka and Deepika before providing her independent interpretation. This allowed me to make sense of the children’s dreams without feeling compelled to follow the authors’ interpretation of the dreams.
This book has chapter titles and subtitles describing each aspect of the children’s dreams. This enabled me to trace the transition between Priyanka’s and Deepika’s experiences in heaven and hell. The authors also included tables and images to contrast the children’s experiences in heaven and hell and distinguish between the heaven and hell Bibles. The text not only describes the children’s experiences but also promotes human values like kindness and generosity. Jemima says that her daughters’ dreams have impacted her and Arvind’s lives, including the authorship of this book to tell the world about God’s glory.
There is nothing I liked least about this book, which I happily award five out of five stars. I did not find any errors, as it was exceptionally edited. I recommend it to mature Christian readers, who can meditate on the Christian verses provided in the book and relate them to other biblical teachings.
