Stan Gwizdak, the author of this book, Karmic Selling, has dedicated much of his career to assisting others, drawing from his years in the corporate world. Throughout his time in this environment, he witnessed the pitfalls of settings dominated by individuals solely focused on personal gains without giving back. After a severe car accident, which served as a wake-up call, Stan departs from such toxic surroundings. He ventured into establishing his consulting firm. Reflecting on his journey with candour, Stan discusses both the triumphs and setbacks that shaped his business. His experiences underscore a fundamental belief: by prioritising goodness and altruism, one attracts even greater positivity and success.

Karmic selling, as described by Stan, is about connecting with people. According to him, connecting with people is the key to success. The author believes that the word “karma” denotes the popular saying “what goes around comes around.” In the introductory part of the book, he made it known how much he hated being a sales guy and further corroborated it with the humorous story of how a sales guy convinced his father to buy a vacuum cleaner they didn’t need at a high cost. These whetted my appetite for the benefits that the book offered.

While reading the book, I learned several virtues that can help one excel both in the corporate world and in personal endeavours. Virtues such as having a clean heart and being authentic. Stan also explained how one can implement these virtues in the right way to achieve the best result. One virtue that resonated strongly with me is what he called the “however-I-can-help” mindset. A careful reader will benefit from the contents of this book.

I rate the book five out of five. The high rating is for several reasons, such as enjoying every page of the book without getting bored at any point. Another reason the book deserves an excellent rating is how the author laid out the content of the book strategically without confusing me as a reader. He ensured he included different case studies as insets in the book to show readers real-life examples of the points he made. In addition, he also included sections called “reflection exercises” that helped me, as a reader, practice each of the author’s teachings.

Apart from the too-tiny fonts used to write the quotes on some pages of the book, I did not notice any other negatives about the book. This also didn’t prevent me from enjoying this book. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve their business interactions and success.
