With a deep understanding of the issues faced by teens in our contemporary society, the author has provided a powerful and informative guide that equips readers to successfully explore the complexities of social dynamics.

In this book, “Powerful Social Skills for Teens” by Max Smith, I learned why it’s a positive thing to embrace our differences, because that’s what makes us unique. There are tips for finding one’s unique self, such as meditation and being oneself, among others. Again, I love the practical exercises employed by the author, especially the section that discusses finding one’s strengths and weaknesses.

I like the concept of the 'looking glass', which enables one to scale through challenges in life. Again, the importance of journaling cannot be overemphasised, as it helps one discover lapses that need to be improved in one’s life.

I learned about the difference between a fixed and growth mindset and how each can affect one’s life either positively or negatively. Furthermore, the author discusses the importance of sports and exercise to balance hormones, including boosting one’s confidence and self-esteem. As I was going through this book, it felt like the author was personally advising me.

In chapter six, I learned a lot about the building blocks of effective communication. The author elaborates on different approaches to initiating a conversation. Again, there are ways to resolve conflict, such as accommodation, avoidance, and compromise, among others.

I don’t dislike anything about this book. This is a book I wish were available to me in my teenage years. The author uses straightforward and relatable language to communicate with readers. I only found one error, which didn’t disrupt my reading flow in any way. It shows the book was professionally edited.

I rate it 5 out of 5 stars, as there’s no reason to deduct any points. I recommend this to parents seeking a positive change in the minds and lives of their teenagers. It’s also recommended for adults, as I learned a lot of things from this book despite being an adult.

I like the idea of embracing my differences. I've always tried to do that my whole life, since I have this tendency of often trying to compare myself with others. I think this book will help me a lot.
