I found unexpected delight in "Involuntary Reroute" by Robert Laney. The book surpassed my expectations, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Initially, a book detailing the beginnings of airline deception and narrating a young entrepreneur's transformation of a controversial idea into a global enterprise may not sound captivating. However, I must admit that, at some point, I became engrossed in the story. He begins his narrative by recounting the story of how he and his mother initiated their business venture with no financial resources. In the early days of air travel, airlines provided their agents and agency owners with 75 percent discounts from full first-class fares. He used this as a business strategy to enable individuals to pay a reduced price for their first-class seats, enjoying a 75 percent discount.

The reader follows a description of all the highs and lows he had to navigate for it to thrive, detailing how he pushed forward in the face of adversity. His journey involves betrayal, opposition, financial struggles, and numerous court appearances. Expressing why I enjoyed it so much is challenging for me, but I believe every reader should experience it firsthand to form their own opinion, given that everyone has unique perspectives.

The highlight of the book is the story itself. It evokes a variety of emotions in the reader. Even if it were a fictional story, I would still have enjoyed it, but since it is not, it made it even more awesome. It was well-edited. One drawback of it was its informality. Although it enhanced relatability, I think there were moments when it diluted the presented information, rendering it more indirect. There were moments when a serious situation would be turned into humor, and then the topic would shift, leaving the reader wishing for more elaboration.

I am giving it a rating of five out of five because, although I believe the author could have painted a better picture with a slightly more formal approach, the level of enjoyment I experienced doesn't compel me to deduct a star.
