Rachel Sim's "Are You Love Smart or Love Stupid?" is a masterpiece that delves into the complex and multifaceted concept of love. As an expert marriage and relationship counselor, she breaks down the misconceptions and fables surrounding love and simplifies the search for long-lasting love, whether you are dating, in a relationship, or married. The book provides a fascinating insight into the origins of love and how modernistic technology may not always be helpful in this journey. It's a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the true meaning of love and build strong and lasting relationships. This book offers advice on how to maintain a positive and healthy relationship with our significant others. It emphasizes the importance of loving and valuing ourselves before seeking a partner, as this helps us understand who we are as partners and what we expect from love based on our experiences and upbringing. Additionally, it provides tips on how to contend with common relationship issues that may arise.
Perfectionism is heavily accented in today's world, and it manifests at home, in schools, and even in Disney movies. While it may seem harmless, these high standards and expectations may be limiting. The good news is that this book provides tips on how to reframe them, filter out unhelpful advice from friends and family, and stay open-minded about the ups and downs that come with it. The book is divided into five parts, each centered on different aspects of love: finding love, new relationships, committed relationships, marriage, and finance. It also included takeaways in bullet points to synopsize the points made, which could be helpful for readers. Additionally, the author used testimonials from her patients, quotes from other books, and references from movies to support her points. The book was well-structured and informative. In each section, the author shares her thoughts and experiences, as well as testimonials from others, and concludes with a key takeaway. She also provides helpful pointers on how to enjoy each stage of love with our partners, communicate effectively, and build a fulfilling connection.
However, I believe that everyone, including single individuals searching for love and couples looking to enhance their love lives, would greatly benefit from the vast knowledge provided. After all, knowledge is a valuable source of power that can benefit us all. I found nothing to dislike about this book, but it does contain profanity, so it may not be suitable for children. The writing was extraordinaire, and the editing was professional. Overall, I give it a 5 out of 5 rating because it has had a positive impact on my perspective on love.
