Niching Up: The Narrower the Market, the Bigger the Price by Chris Dreyer is a very interesting and educating read on the topic of focusing on a very specific industry and becoming an expert in that industry. By 'niching up' or narrowing down the focus that one can provide a service in, that person ultimately can make the most money or charge higher premiums for the services they provide.

Dreyer, who runs an incredibly successful SEO (search engine optimization) lays out all the information one would need to focus on a particular niche and make the most success out of your business as possible. As a known successful businessman, this is the person you want advice from. The book is a short read and easy to follow. Sometimes, when reading a non-fiction informational guide the material can be boring and difficult to follow or glean useful information from. This author's style of writing is just the opposite. He breaks up the paragraphs, inserts cute and funny anecdotes throughout, and has quirky remarks to tie it all together and allow the reader to understand all of his concepts.

I think my favorite part of the book was in the first chapter when he specifically explained that niching up can prove to be quite difficult and laid out all of the cons that one can encounter when attempting this business model. Not all authors about creating or bettering a business are going to go into very thorough detail about why their idea may NOT be the right decision for the reader. Dreyer however seems to truly have the best interest of the reader at heart as he wrote this book and comes across as wanting to share his methods of success. Throughout many of the cons listed, he tries to convey that this method certainly could not be for everyone, but for whomever it would work, he wants to help.

There was not anything in this book that I disliked or would change. I would encourage anyone with an interest in starting a business or narrowing their focus on the service they provide to read this well-written short book. The author's writing style is straightforward, uncomplicated, and easy to follow his tips and advice to gain the most success in your business. I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars for the well-written advice and concise nature of the book and would recommend anyone with a business or thinking of starting a business to purchase this book to keep in their library for reference.
