"Butterfly Awakens" by Meg Nocero is a memoir that captures her childhood struggles, losing her loving mother, Mary Jo, and her journey to recover from grief. The book begins with the author narrating how she survived elementary school bullying by agreeing with bullies and how she tackled loneliness by third-wheeling with her sisters. To escape the world's reality, she created the Hello, Fellow series, making up the life of a young, successful woman. Her mother, Mary Jo, was her constant support throughout her life and would advise her to let go of all past traumas and live life peacefully. After graduating from Boston College, Meg interned at a prestigious INS law firm, where she faced bullying there too. While working as a prosecutor, she received the news of her loving mother getting diagnosed with breast cancer. Her mother left the world as a beautiful butterfly, filling the void in Meg's life. Still not on terms with her mother's death, Meg begins her spiritual journey, where she juggles between Miami and Spain. The author concluded the book by beautifully describing all women's butterflies and advising them to heal their wounds and believe in themselves.

The writing style of Meg Nocero is exceptional, making it possible to complete the book from beginning to end. The author described all her life events from early 2008 to December 2020 with sensitivity and care. The author also used famous people quotes and certain biblical phrases to make readers understand her perspective. There was nothing I disliked about this book. I found the book to be exceptionally edited, and no grammatical errors were found.

What I learned from the book was that no matter where life is going to take you, have faith and keep going. I rate this book five out of five stars for instilling faith, courage, and hope in me. I recommend this book to those who are looking for inspiration in their lives to believe in themselves.
