Roadmap to the End of Days: Demystifying Biblical Eschatology to Explain the Past, the Secret to the Apocalypse and the End of the World by Daniel Friedmann provides a wealth of information and references to the events leading up to the end of the world as we know it. Some of the references are exciting, while some are very disheartening – world peace to cataclysmic war. The author explains the events leading to the end of days as a glass maze, making the reader consider the possibility of multiple paths that could lead to the exit, instead of just one path. The glass maze offers several different possible outcomes depending on humankind’s actions and behaviors. Many historical references are intertwined with biblical prophecy, showing the reader that the end of days is outlined in religious readings. Prophecies are not only relied upon to figure out the timeline to the end, the pattern of history is also analyzed giving the reader real world events to think about. Also considered is our cosmic purpose. The book makes the reader consider why we are here and what our purpose is in this world. It is suggested that by studying our past and present we can find a pattern, the pattern that may lead to the end of days.
Daniel Friedmann’s in-depth analyzes of our past and biblical doctrines sets the reader up for success in understanding the books references. He provides appendices to further explain important points noted in the chapters for the reader to refer to as needed. A helpful glossary of terms aids the reader with understanding keywords and clarifying any misunderstandings to the language used. I found his analyzes and addition of the material in the appendices useful in my understanding of the book. I frequently referred to the back of the book whenever I wanted to verify what I was reading and to help me make sense of it all.
There is a lot of information in this book, which can be intimidating to some readers. While biblical references are elaborated on, anyone that is not that familiar with the word of God may find it difficult to relate to the text and fully understand the information. I did have to frequently reread areas and refer often to the back of the book for the glossary and appendix, which can sometimes be annoying to some readers.
I gave this book 4 out of 4 stars, even though some readers may find this text hard to read, I found it interesting and it gave me insight into how our world has parallels to the bible and how our history repeats itself. There were many “I didn’t know that” moments for me as I was reading, things about God’s word that I didn’t know, how much the Bible I read is so similar to the Torah yet different, and the evidence of how history does repeat itself. When I can come away from a book knowing more than I did before I read it makes it a 4 star book for me.
Roadmap to the End of Days: Demystifying Biblical Eschatology to Explain the Past, the Secret to the Apocalypse and the End of the World engaged my mind and challenged me to view things in a different way. Even if you don’t read the word of God, you will find this book interesting enough to challenge what you think and how the world’s past, present, and future are linked to Biblical doctrines.
