Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
The Little Golf Bag Book by Kalliope Barlis is a useful guide for those who want to enhance their golf skills in a short period. Although the author has written another book on how to become a professional golfer, this book is more of a handbook that can be carried around and referred to whenever needed for inspiration or tips. The book begins with five pieces of advice on how to use it effectively. It's divided into three parts, with the first part focusing on neurolinguistic programming, which trains the mind to think positively for better results. The second part provides strategies for practicing and taking risks in the game for improvement, while the third section outlines a step-by-step routine for putting the golf ball in the hole.
The author's kind gesture of clarifying in the beginning that this book includes some wisdom that was left out in the previous one was appreciable. Otherwise, readers like myself, who have already gone through the previous book, might have skipped this one, thinking it to be merely a summary. The author's language for explaining her strategies is straightforward and uncomplicated, making it possible for anyone to become a professional golfer by following them with dedication. I admire the way the author has directed the visualization process, which is accurate and makes me feel like I'm experiencing it myself. The scientific evidence supporting the book adds to its value and makes it worth reading. At the start of the third part, the author included a brief questionnaire that I found helpful for players to have clarity about the type of game they expect from themselves, allowing them to play accordingly.
The 15:5 exercise was impressive, and it surprised me to learn that the author got the idea from the show and commercial time pattern. I respect the author's awareness. The data in the book is presented systematically, and I found the pointers listing the necessary skills to improve particularly helpful. I also appreciated the author's kind gesture of providing a gold formula for practicing golf at home. Anywhere and by anyone, this book can be read and used to become a professional golfer, making it a timeless read. In the third part, the author explains the steps visually, making them easier to understand.
I read the book and found it fantastic overall. There was nothing that I disliked about it. Even though I had no prior knowledge of golf, the book was still easy to understand. It explained the jargon and terminology used in golf in simple terms, making it accessible to anyone.
The editing of the book was exceptional, as I did not come across any errors or grammatical mistakes. Due to the reasons mentioned above, I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. For those who play golf, I would strongly advise them to consider this book. It can serve as a handy reference guide, and they can carry it with them at all times.
