In Trinities to Enneagrams, 2nd Edition, Allen David Young takes readers on a transformative journey through the nine Enneagram personality types. This comprehensive guide offers profound insights into the unique characteristics, motivations, and patterns of behaviour associated with each type. Readers are invited to explore their personality types and gain a deeper understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. Each personality type is explored in detail, providing practical exercises, anecdotes, and guidance for leveraging strengths and addressing challenges.

From the driven initiator or reformer to the caring helper, the ambitious achiever or performer, and the introspective individualist or romantic, readers will gain valuable insights into their motivations and behaviours. This book serves as a roadmap for personal growth, offering guidance on leveraging strengths, addressing weaknesses, and fostering healthy relationships. By embracing the wisdom of the Enneagram, readers can deepen their self-understanding, enhance personal growth, and cultivate more meaningful connections with others.

What I like about this book is how it talks about the importance of trying hard and actively getting involved in our growth. The book suggests that we can take charge of our development by setting goals, learning new things, and taking action. I appreciate how the book encourages us to have a go-getter mindset when facing tasks that help us grow. It shows that by putting in effort and being purposeful, we can make progress and learn important lessons. It's a practical way of saying that what we do and how much effort we put in matters in our journey of personal development. And when it comes to looking at ourselves, this book is great at saying we should think about what we're good at, what we need to work on, and what's important to us. It encourages us to understand our needs, what drives us, and how we act. This understanding becomes the basis for getting better and growing personally. The book shares practical tips on how thinking about ourselves can help us improve and grow.

I dislike the lack of scientific evidence related to astrology in this book. For example, astrologers often make predictions or interpretations based on birth charts, which involve mapping the positions of celestial bodies at the time of an individual's birth. I criticize and argue that these interpretations are subjective and can vary widely among different astrologers. Without a standardized and objective methodology, it becomes challenging to test the accuracy and reliability of astrological claims, even as discussed in this book. The methods used in astrology, such as horoscopes and zodiac signs, are often based on generalizations and broad interpretations, which can make it difficult to subject them to rigorous scientific scrutiny. It would help succeed editions that the author concludes by formulating hypotheses, designing experiments, collecting data, and analyzing results before providing reasonable conclusions to readers. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.

I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because I love how this book emphasizes the significance of actively engaging in our growth. It suggests that we have the power to take charge of our development by setting goals, acquiring new skills, and taking meaningful actions. I admire how the book instils a go-getter mindset, urging us to tackle challenges head-on for personal growth. It underscores the idea that our efforts and purposeful actions truly matter in our journey of self-improvement. When it comes to self-reflection, the book encourages us to assess our strengths, areas for improvement, and personal values. This understanding becomes the foundation for personal growth. The book provides practical tips on leveraging self-awareness to enhance ourselves. However, my main gripe is the lack of scientific evidence related to astrology. The book discusses astrological practices without providing a solid scientific foundation. I believe astrological interpretations based on birth charts and celestial positions lack objectivity and can vary widely. Without a standardized methodology, it's challenging to test the accuracy of astrological claims. In future editions, I hope the author incorporates more scientific rigour, including hypotheses, experiments, data collection, and rigorous analysis, to ensure more reliable conclusions. I recommend this book to individuals seeking practical advice on personal development and self-awareness.
