Review of Symone's Purpose
Symone's Purpose is an exciting tale unraveling the life of Symone McDaniels, written by Victoria "Vicki" Lewis. The novel consists of eight chapters following Symone, a woman who, deep down in her personal life, lacks genuine self-happiness despite her professional achievements.
Symone was a prominent child psychiatrist, motivational speaker, and published author who has significantly contributed to her community. Amidst having professional success, it doesn't translate into her personal life as a mother to three children, a mentor who selflessly puts others first, a devoted wife, and a sister to many. As Symone navigated her daily work life in the office to help the young, mentally disturbed people, she found herself reflecting on her own tumultuous journey. Besides, the past infidelity issue in her marriage was also disturbing, and her marriage has transformed into coexistence after a vibrant love story with Darius. In addition, her sisters are dealing with marital conflict and navigating personal crises in life. The plot takes a turn when an unexpected old ally with whom Symone still has unresolved issues pops up again, eliciting long-suppressed emotions within her. It causes her to start reevaluating her marriage to Darius. Will Symone make choices that will bring happiness into her life? Find out from a copy of Symone's Purpose.
I like this Symone tale, and from her lens, we see the resilience of the human spirit, an understanding of human behavior, and the courage one needs to seek their own happiness. The writing is poignant. The author's addition of Symone's sisters, each battling with their dilemmas and demons, added depth to this story and rich layers to Symone's life as we learned how selflessly she's been carrying on and being the anchor of their family. I liked that Victoria uncovered the joys and struggles of friendship, the harsh yet comedic realities of everyday life, and family dynamics for us to reflect upon and relate to in our lives. Symone's contribution to the community and helping the young, mentally disturbed minds is a likable aspect of the story. We see her readiness, willingness, and commitment to offer service, support, and guidance to her community in times of apparent need.
I enjoyed the plot and storyline of the novel. Symone's upbringing in a dangerous and chaotic environment to achieve her dreams is an inspiring part of her journey. She was a unique and determined woman who managed to go to school, acquire degrees, balance her career and motherhood, write a bestselling children's book, and have family and personal aspirations. I love the support and love Symone's sisters showed towards each other. The traumas and societal perils of raising black children in a predominantly white world, familial bonds, loss, infidelity, and love are among the themes in the book.
I discovered an error in the book; hence, its editing was professional. Symone's Purpose will receive a rating of 5 out of 5 stars from me, as I didn't stumble on any negative aspects, and the one error is not an ideal reason to reduce my rating. It's a fascinating tale, and I recommend it to young people and every woman who has ever found herself at the crossroads of her destiny.
