[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The History of Jesus: The Bible in a Nutshell" by William Davis.]
Are you someone who finds the Bible difficult to read and understand? William Davis has summarized the Old and New Testaments in this short book with clear and concise explanations. The Old Testament tells of the genealogical line leading up to Jesus’s birth and how their faith in God helped them, and the New Testament speaks of Jesus’s life, death, and resurrection. Although we are all sinners, we can gain salvation if we make the right choice. What is your choice? Read The History of Jesus: The Bible in a Nutshell by William Davis to learn what you must do to gain salvation and live a better life.
William Davis wrote this book to make people want to read the Bible, and I believe he has succeeded. He certainly increased my interest in reading more of the Bible. I commend William Davis for his writing style, which made this book seem like a story, not a sermon. One of my favorite lessons in this book was that it is impossible to hide from God because He knows what is in my heart. It was interesting to see how Jesus viewed money and why God sent His only son to die for our sins instead of an angel. This book may help many people learn that more than having faith is needed to live a Christian life and gain salvation. Each biblical character is fully developed, and their roles are thoroughly explained.
There was nothing I disliked about this well-written and professionally edited book. Each chapter and part flows smoothly to the next. There was no reason for me to deduct any stars, which justifies giving this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed reading it, and it increased my interest in reading the Bible, which I am ashamed to admit I have only read certain parts of.
This book is for Christians only because it summarizes the Bible. Anyone who does not believe in, or is not interested in, God should avoid this book. However, if you believe in God and want to learn more about the Bible and what it teaches us, you should grab a copy of this book.
