Book Review: "Play Golf Better Faster Handbook: The Little Golf Bag Book For Big Results Fast" by Kalliope Barlis

"The Little Golf Bag Book" is another version of a book on playing golf by the same author, using techniques of NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming). Kalliope Barlis is a well-known NLP expert who has written numerous books ascertaining the value of using her techniques to be a winner in just about everything in life.

This book has three parts: "Using Your Brain," "Practicing Golf," and "Playing Your Game." In the first part, the author mentions the difference between the mind and the brain. She insists that one can use thoughts originating in the mind to change the neural signals to the brain and further control what thoughts should be coming to the mind. There are simple mind-training exercises presented that can be practiced to achieve the desired results. The second part deals with actions, which in this case is practicing golf. As everyone knows, with practice, everything becomes better. And the third part is, of course, about playing the game of golf.

What I liked about the book was its size. The foreword by famous golfer Chuck Hogan sets the pace for an entertaining read. The author uses simple techniques of NLP to convince the reader that just changing the way one thinks about and approaches one's game can lead to positive results. There are sufficient graphics and drawings to help the serious player. As always, Kalliope makes you feel that you can use her tried-and-tested techniques to come out as a winner in all walks of life.

There is nothing to dislike in the book. The book has been edited exceptionally well, as I did not find any errors in the writing. I would give the book five out of five stars, much of it for its size and relevant message. I would heartily recommend the book to all athletes and others who want to understand the power of mind training and positive thinking.
