Review of Reconfigurement
Reconfigurement by E. Alan Fleischauer is a book about financial planning for retirement. Fleischauer has written this book to provide working people with a useful guide on planning their finances for life after retirement. This book delves into various aspects of retirement planning, such as insurance, savings, 401(k)s, disability insurance, and career assessment. Fleischauer, an experienced financial expert, provides an authentic and guided approach to planning a personal retirement plan backed by statistical data.
As a young person belonging to a generation that believes in instant gratification, I admittedly prioritize enjoying the present rather than saving up for later. However, I also realize the importance of having a sound financial plan for retirement. So, I am infinitely grateful for this book that came at the right time for me.
I appreciate that the author has presented this topic in a way that is easy to understand for financial novices. Fleischauer's expertise is evident, as he supports his knowledge with appropriate data in the book, giving the information significantly more weight. The tidbits of jokes in the content also lightened my mood whenever the topics became overwhelming.
I particularly enjoyed the career assessment quiz, as I'm fond of quizzes. The results significantly aided me in pinpointing the right fit for my retirement planning. The author's segmented approach to crafting a tailored plan for different careers is ingenious. The inclusion of trusted software and resources in the book is convenient, sparing me the need for personal research. Fleischauer has admirably ensured that readers are fully equipped with the necessary steps to create their plan without feeling overwhelmed.
There is nothing to dislike in this book. Fleischauer has written it in a concise manner, allowing only the minutest off-topic content, such as the jokes. The rest of the book is full of useful information. I found his fun approach to teaching such a boring subject very commendable. The book was professionally edited; I did not find a single error while reading.
With numerous positives and no negatives, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This guide will prove to be very useful not only for soon-to-be-retiring individuals but also for young adults. Planning and saving for retirement from the present moment itself will make the future even sweeter, thanks to the power of compounding.
