Review of Karmic Selling
"Karmic Selling: Earning Business by Earning Trust" by Stan Gwizdak is a book that gives an unconventional approach to sales. The author is an entrepreneur, consultant and coach, which adds to his credibility. The author describes the principle of karmic selling, in which you approach the client with clean hearts and try to help them instead of just selling them your product or service. It is also a personal book explaining the power of human connection and how connectivity benefits us humans, personally and professionally.
The book starts by addressing the negative attitude of the general population towards salespeople as they become very pushy while trying to sell a product or service regardless of their client's needs. The author asks the reader to develop a 'however-I-can-help' mindset that prioritizes connection over profits and serving others over self-interest to overcome disapproval.
The book serves as a step-by-step guideline for shifting from approaching people as potential clients to approaching them with clean hearts and genuinely trying to help them. There are two major principles of karmic selling: first is that you can be successful while embracing authenticity by being true to yourself and straightforward with others. The second is that success begins with asking the question, "How can I help you?" The author does a great job of explaining these principles in detail with anecdotes for easier grasping.
The book is one of the best books I have ever read on 'sales'. The integration of quotes, metaphors, anecdotes and case studies keeps the reader engaged. The addition of exercise in chapters to inculcate the principles in daily life is also admirable. The author not only quoted scientific research to back up his principles but also provided references at the end of each chapter.
There was nothing that I didn't like about the book. I didn't notice any typos or grammatical issues due to all of the above reasons, I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is starting on their entrepreneurial journey or folks who are trying to improve their interpersonal relations skills.
