Whether you are looking to build and promote your personal brand or your company’s, or if you just want to learn more about branding and marketing, Telling Your Story, Building Your Brand: A Personal and Professional Playbook by Henry Wong is a must-read. Henry Wong presents a detailed guide on how to identify your niche, build a brand and promote it to the right audience. Filled with real-life examples and anecdotes, this is as useful as it is entertaining, both as a casual read and as a step-by-step guide to brand building. While the subject is rather complex, the author provides clear and straightforward directions on how to identify what makes you or your company different and what need you can fulfill on the market, as well as how to approach and keep your audience committed to the brand. With an emphasis on storytelling and the importance of creating an emotional connection with your target audience, Wong shares the main principles that ought to be considered when building a brand, many of which may be overlooked by some businesses. What I liked most about this is that Wong goes through all the steps from the stage of a mere idea, the process of finding what best represents you or your business, how to use this to fill a need in the market, and up to the process of rebranding, should the need for this arise. While the steps are clear and concise, Henry Wong emphasizes that the work needs to be done, and there is no shortcut for doing it right if you want to succeed. These being said, if you are willing to put in the effort, Telling Your Story, Building Your Brand: A Personal and Professional Playbook by Henry Wong will most definitely help to get you where you want in what brand building is concerned. On a scale of one to five, I would definitely rate this as a five.
