The author of this book, Jane Kim Yu, has had a lifelong dream of writing since she was a child. She wanted to truly understand what it meant to live, and her search for the answer inspired this book. "Journey of Awakening and Higher Consciousness" is the culmination of this author's years of research, soul searching, and diverse life experiences. If you want to know what it means to live authentically, you will not be disappointed with this book.

I must begin by praising the author's skill in artistically expressing her vision through words. Her passion for writing was obvious, and her expressions made her messages clear and easy to understand. To help readers understand her thoughts, she defined awakening and a higher consciousness as living completely, as life should be. I enjoyed the book's simple language and the fact that its tropes felt relatable. Outlining the various human personalities and explaining how they could be viewed as distinct was something I felt many people would relate to. I appreciated such inclusivity in ensuring that readers of various demographics were carried along.

Yu's descriptive abilities are what stand out in this book for me. I enjoyed everything she said about consciousness, from describing her personal experiences to explaining what the journey of consciousness awakening entailed. The book highlighted the various stages of this journey, as well as tips for assisting with the process later on. I appreciated how clearly and comprehensively these points were stated.

The only thing I did not like about the book was how bloated it felt at times. It occasionally strayed from the subject matter and started talking about tangentially related topics. A more streamlined approach to only the relevant information would help the reader's mind stay focused. For this reason alone, I deduct one star from this book's rating, giving it a 4 out of 5. "Journey of Awakening and Higher Consciousness" contained many helpful suggestions for those on a spiritual journey, and I believe that with the right mindset, this work would be an invaluable resource for them.
