Review of Memoirs of a Management Consultant
In "Memoirs of a Management Consultant," Franco Guazzoni recounts his management consulting journey spanning more than 50 years of his professional career. The book is encompassed with his private and professional life, along with his achievements and regrets during his tenure at MIDA, General Electric, Ernst & Young, and other notable consulting firms. The author narrates his pivotal role and the decisions he took while navigating clients at each firm he worked with. From the beginning to the end, his working experience and knowledge of management consulting shone with raw honesty and vulnerability. The book is set in the chronological order of his working years.
The author's writing skills are commendable; he shared an impeccable world of management consulting, and it's working. He shares how management consultants, like all other professions, rely on ethical conduct in relation to clients, colleagues, stakeholders, and competitors. The book concludes with the author sharing his childhood memories with his family, his life at school, and his travel memories. He shares his fair share of regrets, like missing spending time with children and his wife, not continuing his passions, and playing a role in politics. The inclusion of colleagues and meetings he attended added a layer of authenticity to his professional career. From the intricacies of financial analysis to effective communication skills, each topic was presented in an engaging manner, making it accessible to readers of all genres.
I rate "Memoirs of Management Consultants" five out of five stars for sharing the professional realm of management consultants. Franco Guzzani's writing, weaved with passion, career, and authenticity, made this book enjoyable to read. I would recommend this book to someone who is interested in a consulting career or someone seeking advice on navigating the consulting career. The book is exceptionally edited, with no grammatical errors. There was nothing I disliked about this book.
