A rather philosophical and unique take on golf, paired with practical tips and advice, 'Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book' isn't some get better quick sham. It is, in fact, a pocket-sized masterclass in golf. Deriving from both real-life experiences and established practices, this book teaches you how to be better at golf not just through practice and patience, but by changing your approach and mindset around it too. Meant as a handy book to keep in your golf bag for ready reference at all times, what differentiates this book from its predecessor called 'Play Golf Better Faster: The Classic Guide to Optimizing Your Game and Building Your Best Fast' is that it not only has some of the most important exercises from the one that came before it but some entirely new ones too. It is designed for one to improve while one reads through it, with a handy step-wise plan at the very beginning instructing the reader on how to read the book to get the most out of it, which I recommend following. The book promises that on finally applying the skills one has learned, one will find that their game has improved dramatically, which I found to be quite true. While I'm just a beginner, I have found the book to be quite helpful in improving my game by leaps and bounds. Additionally, I appreciated the straightforward language used in the book alongside diagrams, rather than extremely technical terms, which made the book easy to follow and implement. I did, however, find some areas of the book to be slightly repetitive at times in terms of motifs, such as the brain not being able to differentiate between what is real versus imagined. Some spots also contained run-on sentences, which were cumbersome to process at times, but I believe these were intentional choices on the author's part and drove home the point that the novel seeks to make. All in all, I would give this five stars and recommend every golfer, no matter what level they're at, to give it a read.
