Poppy Mortimer’s 28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humourous Memoir blended a few different genres into one book, including romance, comedy, mental health, and a hint of suspense. This novel tells Poppy Mortimer's quest for love, during which she encounters dates with different personalities and patterns of behavior, which ultimately result in disastrous relationships. It may be a traditional date or one that began online. In addition to being entertaining, the novel imparts valuable lessons about self-awareness and self-worth, particularly with regard to relationships.

This book is based on real life; that's why it weighs more, and there is so much learning to it with regards to the dating world and even just when it comes to any relationships. And we all know relationships are one of the most important aspects of our lives. Poppy is also an individual you will root for and love for her values in life.

I adore the writing style of the book. Her word choice is excellent and humorous, and it was understandable. It kept me going, and I didn't even realize I was reading 300+ pages of a book; next thing I know, I’m at the end. Moreover, it's unique how Poppy arranged each chapter and gave it witty titles. I really enjoyed how, for each of her dates, she included a section detailing what she learned on each of her dates.

Furthermore, the book featured different sexual preferences, like fetishes; it also depicted negative partner traits that you might encounter. What Poppy learned throughout all her 28 dates is something to reflect on for those of us who are also in search of our soulmate. Poppy's story made me realize that there's nothing wasted in every experience, even though it ended badly, because it will lead to discovery about myself, of what I want and what I don't, of what might work and what doesn't.

Lastly, I love what she wrote on the dedication page. It feels like she really cares about her reader, and she didn't fail to remind us that we are something of worth and that we are strong. There is nothing I didn’t like about this book. It was professionally edited as well. Therefore, I gave it five out of five stars.
