Review of Are You Love Smart or Love Stupid
Dr. Rachel Sims’ book Are You Love Smart or Love Stupid? is a book categorised into the non-fiction genre. The focus of this book is to discuss ways to prove relationships and marriages and how to correct wrongs, potentially strengthening relationships. The author is a counsellor, specialising in marital problems. The book discusses a variety of topics relating to marital and relationship problems. If you are struggling with these problems, this book may be for you.
In this book, the author gives us advice and guidance on how to keep a relationship or marriage alive and healthy. She underpins the myths of unhealthy relationships as supposed to healthy relationships. In this book, she looks at one key aspect of maintaining healthy relationships, which is communication. It is important to keep up with communication, as this will help you understand what is going well and what needs improving in their relationship. The author discusses examples that back up her points, which in turn will allow readers to understand that the points made are true and have validity within them. The author suggests that every relationship will have its ups and downs and sometimes become complicated, but this is not personal; it happens to many couples, and it is important to remember that if you go through it, you are not on your own. The author discusses ways to challenge this and strengthen the relationship that is lacking. Without going into spoilers, and to understand more about what the author has to say and discuss, you need to get yourself a copy of this book.
There are many positive attributes to this book. For instance, the language presented in this book is lucid, easy to comprehend, and precise. Furthermore, there are no evident errors, which not only shows that the book is well edited but also contributes to my pleasant reading experience. The writing style of the book is commendable and fitting for the book. Each point discussed in this book is backed up with solid evidence that shows its validity and relevancy. I liked how the author provided examples, which helped provide evidence for the points she made in many of her discussions. The advice given in this book may help couples going through a similar experience in their relationships and those who wish to improve their relationship to become stronger.
In relation to negative aspects, I found nothing to dislike. I loved reading a counsellor's point of view on relationships, highlighting the myths and the importance of communication. It is not unusual for couples to part ways because of miscommunication, and therefore, it is vital for people to understand its importance in relationships, including the strengthening process. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
In summary, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. There was nothing to dislike. I loved the book and the whole focus of it. I am confident that readers who are having problems in their marriages and relationships can get something from this book. I think that the book appeals to young adults and those who are having challenges in their relationships.
