Review of Play Golf Better Faster: The Little Golf Bag Book
"Play Golf Better Faster: From Weekend Golfer to Pro Golfer in Two Years" by Kalliope Barlis is a comprehensive guide aimed at transforming golf enthusiasts of any level into proficient players by leveraging the psychological techniques of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) alongside practical golf exercises. The book details a unique approach to golf training that harmonizes mental strategies with physical practice, advocating for the efficient development of one's game. Through engaging narratives and actionable advice, Barlis introduces readers to methods that enhance awareness, focus, and performance on the golf course, such as visualizing success, anchoring positive shots, and effectively handling various playing conditions.
Structurally, the guide is structured into three main parts, focusing first on using one's brain to harness internal resources for improvement, then on practical golf practice strategies including dealing with different terrain lies and practicing at home, and finally on playing strategies that integrate the mental and physical aspects of golf. If you want to learn about drills and exercises that will greatly improve your technical skills, this book could be a good choice.
I like the book's approach to golf improvement. It effectively integrates mental and physical aspects of the game, offering a comprehensive strategy for improvement. By combining Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques with practical golfing exercises, the book addresses both the psychological and technical challenges faced by golfers, promoting overall growth and efficiency in learning. I had read about the NLP technique a while back, but it's the first time I learned how to apply it in sports. I've also learned the importance of mental preparation, setting intentions, and maintaining a positive and focused mindset during play to improve my gameplay.
Another thing I like is that the book provides readers with actionable strategies and exercises that can be directly applied to their practice and gameplay. The book is filled with specific, step-by-step instructions for various situations on the course, including handling different lies and optimizing practice sessions at home. These practical tips can easily be implemented, making the book informative and highly practical.
Because of these takeaways, I award the book 5 out of 5 stars. I found nothing to criticize that can make me give a lower rating. The editing was exceptionally well done as well.
